Adam Opus is a circus artist, director and theatre maker.

Conceived at sea and born at the end of the earth, Adam’s journey has been far from linear. From Hollywood movie studios to the jungles of Indonesia, Adam has experience the depths and breadths of the performing arts industry.

A theatre school drop out, Adam repented for his sins by studying at the National Institute of Circus Arts. Graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Circus Arts and an award in excellence from Circus Oz.

Adam has performed throughout Australia, Asia, America and Europe. Having made work both independently and for companies including Strut & Fret, Circus Oz, Headfirst Acrobats, La Fura Dels Baus and Red Bull.

Australian born, he now bases his life and artistic work out of Tampere, Finland.

Adam seeks to challenge traditional notions of what circus can be and push the boundaries of the art form. He believes that circus is a powerful tool for exploring philosophical ideas, as it allows us to communicate complex concepts through movement and physicality.

Adam describes his work as an interplay between the fragility and control of the human form; a search for moments best encapsulated by the philosophical ideal of ‘Sublime’.
